## Start with the medicine, not the search result

The parts that build proteins also form peptides, which are small chains; insulin is one example.

The word peptide alone could not establish whether a substance could legally be supplied as medicine, as of September 2026.

Search results may show approved drugs, preparations made for an order, or chemicals carrying a “for research use only” label. That label means it is offered for laboratory research. Get the exact name before comparing care.

A research-only label is not permission to use a chemical as medicine. FDA’s 2026 warning letters accused sellers of unlawfully supplying unapproved drugs despite those labels.

**Peptide**

A group of substances that includes insulin; the name alone does not mean a treatment has been approved.

## Check the people and the supply

Get the name of the person doing your assessment and the pharmacy sending your medicine. Keep both names beside the product name.

Doctors’ licence records are published by state medical boards, along with the penalties or formal charges those boards disclose.

Pharmacy licences have their own state board and their own search.

Save what you find. An unanswered question belongs on the comparison sheet, not in the small print.

**Licence**

The permission to practise that a state board records.

## Get the full answer before paying

Ask why this medicine fits your health concern, what the full bill includes and who handles questions after it arrives.

In September 2026, FDA guidance said medicines made to order, called compounded medicines, had no FDA approval.

Compounding means making a medicine for an order, rather than using a finished drug supplied by its maker.

As of September 2026, federal law required a valid prescription to supply a prescription medicine.

**FDA**

FDA is short for Food and Drug Administration, the US agency that reviews drug products.
