# Know when to pause the process

An answer needs to survive a check.

When the product, person or bill cannot be explained, leave that point open. Ask for the missing record before moving from an offer to a payment.

## Pause at prescription-free or false approval claims

As of September 2026, US federal law prohibited supplying prescription medicine without a valid prescription.

As of September 2026, FDA said medicines made to order, called compounded medicines, had no FDA approval. An offer claiming they were FDA-approved was false.

FDA’s checklist also flags missing pharmacist access and a pharmacy with no state licence.

Ask for names and records. A badge on a page is not an answer to a missing licence check.

**Approval claim**

A statement that the FDA has reviewed the exact drug product.

**FDA**

FDA is short for Food and Drug Administration, the US agency that reviews drug products.

## Pause at restricted payment demands

In its July 2026 alert, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the US consumer protection agency, warned about demands for payment only by money transfer, cryptocurrency, payment app or gift card. It said these demands were likely scams.

FTC is the Federal Trade Commission, the US consumer protection agency.

FDA says a price that seems too low to be believable is a warning sign to check alongside the pharmacy’s other details.

A low price alone does not decide whether an offer is sound.

A form of digital payment, named here because of the payment demand in the FTC alert.

## Severe allergy symptoms need emergency help

MedlinePlus describes anaphylaxis as a life-threatening allergic reaction that can develop very quickly.

Its list includes breathing trouble and swelling in the face or tongue as possible symptoms.

MedlinePlus tells people with severe symptoms to get emergency help by calling 911 or visiting an emergency room.
